FIRESIDE CHAT SERIES #2: THE UnBRICKable TIES (Part 3)

DID YOU KNOW MCS ADMITTED BOYS STUDENTS?

The history of MCS is indeed intertwined with the history of Hong Kong. During the post war times, the Sisters’ Convent opened its doors to become a Sewing Room 花房, creating jobs for women to help alleviate poverty. Our Sisters also welcomed boy students from our neighbouring school, as it prepared the campus for reopening. Despite being an all-girl school, there was a period of time when we had male students, as well as students wearing other schools’ uniforms, sharing our facilities, engaging in PE activities at our Amah Shelter! So advanced are our Sisters in the concept of co-sharing space! Such is the spirit of inclusiveness and collaboration of Maryknoll. Cherish it and let flourish!

If reconnecting with Maryknoll’s past tug at your heartstrings, share with us your personal ‘Love Letters to Maryknoll’ by email to foundation@mcs.hk.
