95th Anniversary Gala Dinner Refund Collections, May 29-31, 2020

2020 marks the 95th anniversary of Maryknoll Convent School. The February gala dinner originally to be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre unfortunately had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. A look at the elegantly designed Gala Brochures and fanfare of souvenirs from sponsors showed how much time and energy had been invested. Still, an arrangement for refund to dinner participants was organized on May 29-31 at the Convent on Boundary Street. Formerly the Maryknoll Sisters’ residence, the rooms were temporarily transformed into stations of cheque collecting, gift pickup and a mini concierge for enquiries, which simultaneously became a tour of the beautiful interior of the convent, to which access was restricted back in the days. Around 70 alumni volunteers came to the school to assist with the process over the three days, during which approximately 90% of gala dinner participants came to collect their cheques and gift bags. All 1,600 gift bags laboriously packed were all given away.  It was truly a bond and build exercise!

We would like to sincerely thank our volunteers for taking the time out of their schedules to support the process; it was a meticulously organized event that ultimately was a delightful experience for volunteers as well as alumni who stopped by. As much as we are disappointed by the cancellation of the dinner, we are also incredibly grateful to those who have opted to donate their ticket price to the school to continue funding our developmental efforts. We very much look forward to the centennial celebration! In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy.

Our dedicated Maryknoll Foundation volunteers meticulously organized for the cheque collection process by graduation year – a more tedious feat than it sounds!
