|The top section of the Crest comprises two lamps with a rose in between. The lamps remind students that "As one lamp lights another nor grows less, so nobleness enkindles nobleness". This was a favourite quotation of Mother Mary Joseph, the foundress of the Maryknoll Sisters. The lamps are shaped as lamps of Knowledge. The acquisition of knowledge is meant to light up the world with love and loving service towards our neighbour. Mother Mary Joseph, saw the whole world as our neighbour and she expected all who studied under the umbrella of Maryknoll to be a lamp for others. She wanted all young women under our charge to radiate the Maryknoll Spirit which is like a lamp that gives light to the world. While sharing our light, our light never goes out. We enrich ourselves as we enrich others. The rose in the middle is a symbol of Mary, Mother of Jesus, after whom our school is named.|
The black and white section of the Crest is taken from the Dominican shield, for the Maryknoll Sisters are part of the Dominican order.
The white symbolises purity and truth, while the black symbolises sacrifice.
The two other colours of the Crest are blue and red, the former standing for loyalty and the latter for charity.
|The Latin words “Sola Nobilitas Virtus” which mean “Virtue Alone Ennobles”, at the bottom form our school motto.|
